Thailand cave rescue: Young participants came upon ‘by odor’ – BBC News

John Volanthen, from Bristol, used to be regarded as one of a style of foreign knowledgeable divers drafted in for the rescue of 12 boys and their soccer coach who had been trapped in a Thai cave for 9 days.

He tells BBC Facets West about the moment he and his fellow divers first came upon the teens alive.

Mr Volanthen, a member of the South and Mid Wales Cave Rescue Team, mentioned they knew they had came upon them attributable to the odor within the cave.
